A savoury snack that is perfect for any mood or occassion, ribbon pakada also called as nada pakoda is a very easy to make crispy treat. You can have fun with the dough by adding ingredients that suit your taste-buds ! I have been running incredibly busy from the last couple of weeks, am very happy that a few posts that are lying in my draft section for so long will be seeing the light of the day !

What goes:

  • Gram Flour (Besan) – 1 cup
  • Rice Flour – 1 cup
  • Sesame Seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli Powder – to taste
  • Asafoetida – to taste
  • Salt – to taste
  • Water – as required
  • Oil – for frying & a little for kneading the dough
Accessories for the snack:-
  • Murukku Press
  • Ribbon Pakoda Mold

How:-

In a deep bottomed pan let the oil heat up well. In the meanwhile ,mix the flours with the chilli powder, salt, asafoetida and the sesame seeds. Blend well with a little hot oil and add enough water to knead it in to a fine dough.
Load a small quantity of the dough in to the murukku press with the ribbon pakoda mold and press them in to the hot oil, let it fry crisp for a few minutes and then turn them over.

Drain on on absorbent paper and store in a dry container.Repeat for the rest of the dough.

Enjoy over a cuppa steaming beverage or if you are like me anytime !
