Want this week to end as quickly as possible— both my kids are sick and i am very saddened that the otherwise tsunami wrecked home is very calm. I bet all moms would agree that nothing is more comforting than to see your kids bouncing and on their feet. Can’t wait to see my son toppling off the Landline connection or bringing down  the onion/potato Cart. And just want my daughter to make a happy mess with her paint n stuff in the living room—sigh! .And it goes without saying that all i make is Rasam, Soups, Fresh Juices. But a little look in to my fridge and i noticed a day old cup of boiled peas and a raw mango that was slowly on it way to Ripening. There was also some masala powder in my pantry that i stocked when i made the Stuffed Okra. Bringing them all together, I made a nice side dish that went well with Chapati n Dal.  The best thing was the dish was so simple to make and it packed quite a punch….

What goes:-

  • Boiled Peas – A cup
  • Onion – 1 medium (sliced or whatever shape)
  • Finely Chopped Raw Mango- 1/4 cup (more if u want it on very tangy note)
  • Masala Powder – as per taste
  • Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
  • Fennel Seeds – 1 tsp

(This masala powder is a combination of Coriander Powder, Cumin Powder, Ground Fennel Powder, Red Chili Powder, Dry Mango Powder, Turmeric Powder, Salt, Asafoetida.)

  • Grated Cheese – little ( i would have definitely added more, if  my daughter was well- since she enjoys cheese)
  • Salt – to taste
  • Coriander Leaves – few sprigs ( finely chopped)
  • Butter – little
How did i make it :-

In a kadai add butter and as the mustard splutters add the fennel seeds. Saute the onions till it turns translucent. Now add the boiled peas and stir fry for some time .

Now add salt, the required masala powder and mix well.

Add the chopped raw mangoes and stir in for some time.

Add grated Cheese, Coriander leaves, give it a quick toss and take off flame.

Serve hot !
