Gary Mehigan the host dished out the most delectable Brownie and the recipe screamed – TRY ME !.
According to him the recipe if followed properly produces ‘THE BEST BROWNIES IN TOWN ‘— and i was hooked. The Brownie to be a winner must be Crusty outside and Gooey Inside .
Armed with a recipe i tried to recreate the same magic of this lovely delight
Ingrediants—-
- Butter – 250 gm
- Caster sugar – 515 gm
- Cocoa powder – 90gm ( dutch processed preferably)
- Eggs – 5
- Plain Flour – 150 gm
- Baking powder – 1/2 tsp
- Dark chocolate chopped – 175 gm ( i used 125 gm-approx)
- Unsalted roasted chopped peanuts – handful ( i used roasted chopped walnuts)
Preheat the oven to 165 C Keep a baking tray greased–
Melt butter in a pan over medium heat.
Place the sugar, cocoa powder and melted butter in a mixing bowl and beat with an electric beater. I don’t have an eletric beater so it was manual whisk. Whisk till the ingredients blend together well.
Whisk in the eggs (one at a time preferably) . It was very labour intensive and i went whisk, whisk, whisk for almost 15 minutes !
In separate bowl, sift flour and baking powder together, then fold the flour to the cocoa mixture. I whisked again for 5-10 minutes
I had a pack of Almond Treats–Cabury Temptations in my Fridge. I used approximately 125 gms along with the roasted n chopped almonds. Fold them through the batter. And again go whisking!!
Pour the batter into the prepared tin and bake for 40- 45 min or until cooked completely!
Leave to cool in the tin for 30 minutes then slice and serve !
The Verdict:-
The Brownies tasted absolutely delightful and i think Gary would have loved it– it was the way he described —– gooey soft inside !!.
My daughter gave me a very high praise saying she will not order Coco Lava Cakes from Dominos anymore— and that is indeed something spectacular and huge because she is crazy about the choco lavas from Dominos !!
And my hubby — well he just asked me to stay clear from baking for some time till he sheds off the calories he would have piled binging on them!!!
So go ahead and try this out ! And it’s ok to let go n tuck in to this sinful wonder once in a while !!!!
