You might have heard of Chilly Paneer but Chilly Bananas anyone?? Well I heard it for the first time too and this unique idea was from my hubby and he was very sweet enough to see his brainchild in to execution. I helped him with little chopping and of course clearing the mess after the fuss (:P)…..

Apparently he got the idea after seeing some Ripe Bananas on the dining table and wanted to cook something different. The dish was served with hot n steaming rice, I bet having them with noodles will also be equally delightful.

What goes :-

  • Onions -2 (peeled n cubed)
  • Capsicum – 1 (cubed)
  • Ginger – a medium piece (cut in to juliennes)
  • Green Chillis – 5 to 6 (diced)
  • Leaves of Scallion (Spring Onions) – 1 cup
  • Root of Scallions – 1/2 cup
  • Soy Sauce – 30 – 45 ml
  • Green Chilli Sauce – 15 – 20 ml
  • Salt – to taste
  • Corn flour – 1/4 cup
  • Maida (Refined Flour) – 1/4 cup
  • Bananas – 4 – 5
  • Oil for frying

Method:-

Mix the corn flour and maida to a smooth batter. Cut the bananas in to to round discs and mix them in batter.

In a kadai heat some oil and deep fry the bananas till they are crispy n brown. Keep aside.

Now in another kadai, heat some oil and saute the onions till translucent.

Add scallion roots and the cubed capsicum and saute well.

Give it a sizzling edge by adding ginger and green chillies.

Add the fried bananas and toss well.

Now dribble in soy sauce and the green chilly sauce as per taste and stir fry it. Temper it with salt and pepper.

Add the remaining corn/refined flour batter and saute till the batter is absorbed by the mix.

Garnish it with chopped scallion leaves and serve hot.

Verdict:-

The stir fry had a whole lot of flavours- sweet, sour, hot, tangy and was tasty. Hubby was mighty pleased that I loved his creation. Take a bow Chef!!
